LOVE NOTES FROM STUDENT INTERNS

Through the industry project, I’ve been able to develop my operational skills because I was responsible for my team’s productivity as well as facilitating healthy, work-related conversations that prompted success. Being on active construction I learned some of the challenges the company in charge faced. I also learned about OSHA safety guidelines in order to better understand my role when ensuring job site safety.

Abdullah, Aspiring Architect

Enrolling in the Teen Construction + Design Institute has allowed me to delve deeper into the world of architecture and interior design. I have had the opportunity to learn from experts, broaden my understanding of the field, connect with individuals who share my passion for design and break out of my comfort zone.

This internship also works to dismantle barriers that often restrict access to leadership roles in the construction, public art, interior design and decorating industries—especially for women and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)—by providing aspiring teen creatives with the knowledge, mentorship, and networks they need to turn their passion into purpose and create a lasting impact in their communities.
LOVE NOTES FROM RECIPIENTS
At the second session I learned how to network and create an elevator pitch. The skills I obtained today will help me in my future endeavors. Additionally, it is inspiring to see young youth like myself pursue higher education and work hard to achieve their goals.
